True Cow
pasture golf. The course feels like no improvements have been
made since it was created in 1894. While not along the coast,
the soil is very sandy and the area beyond the rough is scrub
brush. The fairways are not watered and rarely green in July.
The greens are watered but rarely mowed and most are tiny and
flat. Where you do have a long putt, you may need a hip turn to
get the ball to the cup. |

This course was built on the fourteen mile long
Nantucket Island, which is only accessible by steamship or small
airplane. The terrain is flat, so the course is easy to walk.
Beginners will enjoy playing here because of the wide-open fairways
and large greens. A water hazard comes into play on hole #7, a
463-yard, par 5, and sand bunkers come into play on every hole
throughout the design.
